The Hyperbare Health Caravan: Diagnosis and Education for Villages in Bihor

"The Hyperbaric Health Caravan: Diagnosis and Education for Villages in Bihor" is a project designed to bring preventive care, medical consultations, and guidance closer to the people.

For many people, accessing medical care can be difficult due to distance, time constraints, or a lack of necessary information. Through this mobile clinic, our team travels directly to communities to provide free medical consultations, recommendations, and support in understanding the next steps for their health.

The project focuses on prevention, education, and bringing medical services closer to the community.

The caravan brought a multidisciplinary team to communities in Bihor, consisting of family doctors, emergency medicine physicians, surgeons, infectious disease specialists, gastroenterologists, internists, nurses, and volunteers.

At each stop, residents had free access to:

• medical consultations;
• measurement of vital signs;
• electrocardiograms (EKG);
• ultrasound scans;
• medical recommendations and guidance, tailored to each situation.

So far, the caravan has visited three communities in Bihor County:

• Gepiu
• Husasău de Tinca
• Săcueni

At each stop, we aim to provide an accessible point of contact between the community and medical staff: a place for questions, consultations, recommendations, and guidance.

As part of the medical outreach, our team provided 173 free medical consultations in the communities we visited.

Following the consultations, six individuals with diabetic foot were identified as being at risk of amputation. They were referred to specialists and hyperbaric medicine services for evaluation and continued medical care.

Behind those 173 medical consultations are people with questions, fears, and a need to be heard. These are people for whom access to a doctor, a referral, or a basic medical test may be the first step toward making an important decision about their health.

The six people diagnosed with diabetic foot and at risk of amputation reminded us why this project is so necessary. For them, the mobile clinic offered the opportunity to be referred in a timely manner to specialists and hyperbaric medicine services, before a serious problem was overlooked or put off.

We cannot quantify the peace of mind that an answer can bring, the confidence that a consultation can provide, or the hope that the right guidance can restore. But we know that we were there, close to people, when they needed us.
